Requesting Courses for 2025-2026 at LMHS
Why is Informed Pre-Registration Request so Important?
·To ensure that students are scheduled in the classes they need to graduate on time.
·To ensure that students are put in courses that best meet their personal needs and abilities to maximize success.
·To ensure that students get the elective courses they want to take to explore multiple careers, subjects and activities.
·So the school knows which courses and how many of them need to be taught based on the requests.
·The entire school’s yearlong schedule is based on the courses that students requests during Pre-Registration.
Students will work with their counselors, using the advice of their teachers and families to plan for and request the courses that will best meet their needs in the upcoming school year based on academic performance and student interests and goals.
Why is it so important to be prepared for Pre-Registration meetings with the counselor?
· So that students have time to:
o Explore the Student Services Registration Website to find descriptions of the courses, information about the different programs offered at LMHS and how grades and GPA work
o Talk with teachers, family and friends about the different course options they wish to take.
o Ask questions by emailing their counselor before their individual registration request meeting.
o Completely fill out their specific grade “Registration Request Worksheet” found on the LMHS Student Services Registration website and have it with them at their individual registration meeting.
Because 2 counselors have to meet with over 600 students individually to process their requests, and make sure they are on the right track. Time is a premium!
Once students have been scheduled for courses based on their requests, they will NOT be permitted to make changes to their schedule. Changes to requests for the 24-25 school year can be emailed to a counselor any time between their Pre-registration meeting and May 24th, for any reason at all. After May 24th, requests are locked in so courses can be scheduled.
