VOCAL MUSIC/CHORUS Beginning
This is an introductory choral music course for students interested in singing and musical performance. This course provides a mixed performing ensemble featuring vocal music literature of contemporary and other genres. Students develop and demonstrate appropriate vocal practices, refine the use of the voice as an instrument, and sing vocal literature which represent diverse genres, styles, historical periods, and cultures. Course components include the fundamentals of music sight-singing, vocal techniques, ensemble and performance techniques as well as basic music theory concepts. Course content is aligned to the Essential Standards curriculum for music at the beginning level. Students are required to perform as a chorus group in two concerts during each semester.
VOCAL MUSIC/CHORUS Developing through Accomplished (Prerequisite- the previous level of chorus)
Prerequisite- the previous level of vocal music. This is offered to any students who have taken chorus here and would like to continue learning and exploring their voice more. Students will dive deeper into singing techniques and more challenging music theory concepts. Students in these levels will be required to perform in two concerts during the semester.
