SCAPA Lafayette is a Gifted and Talented program serving high school students identified as gifted in one of ten arts areas. In Fall 2023, SCAPA Lafayette and the FCPS Gifted and Talented department reviewed and revised the entire audition process.
SCAPA students are recommended for placement through the same audition process as district-wide Gifted and Talented arts auditions. ALL students interested in being identified for giftedness will record and submit their audition in November and December for possible placement for the following school year. Auditions will be scored in January.
Gifted and Talented Visual and Performing Arts including auditions for SCAPA Lafayette are recorded and submitted through every middle and high school in the district throughout November and December and scored by a panel of arts educators from across the district in January. Your GT specialist or arts teacher at your FCPS school will help you record & submit your audition.
Non-FCPS students will attend an audition date on a weekday to record prepared and on-demand activities for submission. (See below for specific dates for the current year.)
To be considered for the SCAPA program, students who are already identified as gifted in an arts discipline must audition again in the year before they wish to enter the program. If a student was previously identified as gifted and is interested in attending SCAPA for the 2026-2027 school year, they must complete the audition process again to be eligible.
Students wishing to be considered for a placement at SCAPA Lafayette must complete the district’s Special Programs Application on SchoolMint open March 1-17, 2026.
Each arts discipline has specific audition requirements. Each audition has a prepared component, on-demand component, and brief standardized interview. Please review the audition requirements carefully and work with your GT Specialist or arts teacher at your school to begin to prepare now.
Each middle and high school has a Gifted and Talented teacher assigned to the school. If you have questions about the actual audition and recording process, please contact this GT teacher first. If you have other questions about SCAPA specifically, contact Mr. Marsh at Lafayette. If you are not a current FCPS student, contact Mr. Marsh.
