Module 2: ISTE Standards
Module 2: ISTE Standards
Reflection
In module 2, I learned about the ISTE Standards for Education and different ways teachers incorporate them into their daily schedule. I feel I am the strongest in Learner and Facilitator because I am constantly researching new ideas to share with my students and stay up to date with engaging tools. I try to find relevant and new technology tools for my students to try. I also like to use it to support what we are learning in the classroom and how to connect it to their goals. I do my best to include technology and create learning experiences where they are challenged. I find technology that best suits my students' learning to challenge them and supports their learning goals. On the other end, I feel I could work on educating my students to be stronger digital citizenships. I have thought about this a lot since my students received individual iPads this year. My thoughts were that the librarian always covered these lessons, and she did, but since they used it more often, I would like to work with her to connect about positive online interactions.
Transformation
I plan to take my new knowledge and use it to focus on incorporating more technology into lessons. I want to be able to include technology tools into our schedule and these ISTE standards will help me teach empowered learners. I will be more specific on ways to include these standards when I plan to help reach my students in their learning targets. It will transform my teaching by me being more specific with technology and rethink traditional approaches.
Implementation
I will implement what I have learned in module 2 to bring into my Professional Learning Communities. I gain a teaching partner next year and I plan to communicate with her on implementing these standards into our curriculum. We will sit down and discuss how we can best include technology tools using the ISTE standards for educators and students as a guide. I recognize that it might be a challenge at first, but once we begin, I know it will feel more natural and we will put our students when researching educational technology tools. Our students are innovative learners so we need to be innovative teachers to reinforce content knowledge.
