Pedagogical Uses: Prodigy can be used for work on essential learning outcomes or a way for students to earn free play time where they continue their skills in math.

Idea 1: Align a standard for students to complete that corresponds to their whole group practice.

Idea 2: Create a Prodigy brag board in the classroom that shows student wizard levels.

Idea 3: Send home parent invitations to show how their math is being boosted in the classroom.

Why should teachers use it?

Prodigy can align to mathematic standards at any grade level. It can be set for a certain time period to practice their skills. Also, the game creates progress reports that automatically grades with the standards (see below). The fantasy world engages students and increases their motivation to learn.

How To:

To create an assessment, click on the button create with the drop down arrow. The next pop up will look like the one above. You can choose which fits best for your class (I typically keep student plans within a standard and choose which second grade standard we are working on for whole group). Then, you can choose how long students will practice with the standard. When it is completed, you get to view their results and track their progress! Use the information to meet students needs and continue to develop skills.
