Module 1: Starting Point
Module 1: Starting Point
Reflection
Module 1 gave me the understanding of the course and provided me with what I needed to accomplish this semester. Initially, I felt overwhelmed due to never having Dr. Aberle as a professor and her expectations. It took me some time to get started also because we had just finished teaching during a pandemic and the break between semesters was refreshing. The mini-research project was an interesting way to start the semester as well because we started new courses and technology is how I connect with my learning. I always use my computer to research and explore ideas. It was a challenge, in a good way, to step aside and try to occupy myself with other activities I enjoy doing. I would do it over and over again!
Transformation
Technology is important in our lives but there is also a time and place. I know that I can step aside from my devices and spend time with my family. My students are young and they are easily manipulated to view one side of things. However, I took this introduction module to consider how my classroom functions with technology in the most productive way. Students will be allowed to use technology to create, innovate, and be empowered learners.
Implementation
Since this was a starting point module, I do not have much I plan to implement at this point. However, I will take my new knowledge on limiting screen time for young children into the classroom. I want to give students the opportunity to use technology at school but it will be used in a purposeful way where they are actively engaged and learning.
