The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (11-4, 2-2 CC) gears up for two Centennial Conference (CC) road games this week. The Diplomats face two nationally ranked teams, starting with a matchup against No. 10 Gettysburg (13-1, 3-0 CC) on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. F&M then travels to face No. 25 Johns Hopkins (9-3, 3-1 CC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Last Week
The Diplomats split their CC games last week with a 74-71 loss in overtime to Haverford on Wednesday, followed by a 62-57 win over McDaniel on Saturday.
In F&M's 74-71 loss to the Fords, the Diplomats forced overtime in the final seconds as Quinn Galligan sank a mid-range jumper to tie the game up at 63-all. F&M took a 69-68 lead with a layup from Kennedy Wilburn with 2:37 remaining in the overtime period. However, that would be the last time F&M would lead in the contest. Wilburn led the game with 18 points and 10 rebounds to pick up her 14th-career double-double and her fifth double-double this season. Ally Trebelev followed with 14 points and three three-pointers in the effort. Neville also ended the game with double-digit figures as she registered 13 points with five assists and four steals. F&M responded with a 62-57 win over McDaniel on Saturday in front of the home crowd. F&M held the lead for the majority of the game, but the Green Terror stayed within striking distance the entire way. McDaniel cut the F&M lead to one with second remaining in regulation, but the Diplomats sank four free throws down the stretch to secure the win. As a team, Franklin & Marshall shot 41.7 percent (20-for-48) from the field and 82.6 percent (19-for-23) from the free throw line in the win. Last Time vs. Gettysburg
Franklin & Marshall was defeated at home, 70-51, by then-ranked No. 12 Gettysburg. The Bullets jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as it held F&M to 30.8 percent from the field. Three Diplomats ended the game with double-digit scoring figures, led by Wilburn with 13 points. Galligan and Neville finished the contest with 10 points each, while Neville led the team in rebounds with seven. Read the full recap here.
Last Time vs. Johns Hopkins
F&M was defeated by then-ranked No. 11 Johns Hopkins, 68-32, in early-February of last season. Franklin & Marshall came out of the gates cold on offense to fall behind early in the contest. The Diplomats showed resilience in the third quarter as F&M chipped away at the Blue Jay lead, shooting 35.7 percent from the field and going 4-for-5 from beyond the arc to score 17 points in the frame. Despite the terrific quarter, the deficit was too great to overcome. Hope Schreiber '24 led the Diplomats with eight points and two three-pointers in the game. Gettysburg Team Preview
No. 10 Gettysburg enters Wednesday's game on a four game winning streak, with its most recent victory coming against Johns Hopkins, 54-44. Alayna Arnolie leads the Bullets, averaging 15.8 points per game and 3.1 steals per contest. Mackenzie Szlosek averages 13.7 points per game, whiel shooting 59.3 percent from the field this season. Shinya Lee is a force in the paint with 10. 1 rebounds per game, while ranking second in the nation with 3.6 blocks per contest.
Johns Hopkins Team Preview
After falling to Gettysburg on Saturday, the Blue Jays responded with a 70-36 win over Mary Washington on Monday. Before JHU welcomes F&M on Saturday, it will host Mount Aloysius on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. Michaela O'Neil leads the team with 11.9 points per game, while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from beyond the arc. Macie Feldman follows with 8.7 points per night and 7.8 rebounds per contest.
