Game Notes

The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (1-1) hosts its home opener on Saturday against Eastern (0-3), starting at 1:00 p.m. The Diplomats then welcome York (Pa.) (1-1) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Last Week

Franklin & Marshall began its 2024-25 season in Rochester, New York, competing in the Chuck Resler Tournament, hosted by the University of Rochester. 

Franklin & Marshall opened the season with a 63-48 loss to Whitman, a team receiving votes in the national poll, on Friday afternoon. F&M ended the first quarter tied 11-11 with the Blues. However, Whitman took over by outscoring the Diplomats, 52-37 for the rest of the contest with its largest lead of 21 coming in the final quarter. Kennedy Wilburn led F&M with 12 points and eight rebounds. Ally Trebelev also finished in double-digit scoring figures with 10 points and eight rebounds in the contest. Read the full recap here. 

F&M bounced back with its first win of the season, 63-55, over FDU-Florham on Saturday. The Diplomats took an early lead and never looked back, growing their advantage to as large as 17 in the third quarter. The Devils battled back to cut the F&M lead to four with 23 seconds remaining in regulation, but the Diplomats knocked down four free throws to hold off FDU. Wilburn ended the game with 18 points and 17 rebounds to earn her 10th-career double-double. Lizzie Neville followed with 14 points on the day. As a team, F&M sank 25 free throws, which tied the ninth-highest in the program's single-game record book. Read the full recap here. 

Last Time vs. Eastern

The Diplomats defeated the Eagles, 75-41, in their last meeting in 1988. F&M is 3-0 all-time against Eastern with all three games being played in Lancaster. 

Last Time vs. York (Pa.)

The Spartans downed the Diplomats, 84-59, in the team's last meeting in 2015. F&M's last victory over York came in 1993 as the Diplomats fought off the visitor's, 60-56. Since then, YCP has won the last 11 matchups. 

Eastern Team Preview

Eastern has started its season 0-3 with losses to Haverford, Gettysburg and Susquehanna. Jeriyah Johnson leads the Eagles, averaging 13.3 points per game and two assists per contest. Tyerra Jarvis and Dominique Geiger are tied for the team high in rebounds, averaging 5.3 boards per game. As a team, Eastern has averaged 40.7 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 71.3 per night. 

York (Pa.) Team Preview

Before the Spartans head to Lancaster on Tuesday, YCP will host the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic over the weekend with its first game coming against Mount Aloysius on Friday at 5:00 p.m. York has split its opening two games with a 65-46 win against Penn State Altoona and a 66-52 loss to McDaniel. Morgan Adams leads the Spartans, averaging 13.5 points per game, while shooting 66.7 percent from the field. Adams also leads the team in rebounds, averaging 8.5 boards per contest. Meanwhile, Alyssa Hocker averages 4.0 assists per night, while averaging nine points per game.
