The Franklin & Marshall women's basketball team (6-1) prepares to begin its Centennial Conference (CC) slate with two CC games this week. The Diplomats host Swarthmore (3-4) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., before welcoming No. 12 Gettysburg (7-0) to the Mayser Center on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Last Week
The Diplomats downed Centenary, 77-63, on Tuesday evening to claim its best start through seven games since 1993. The win also marked the highest-scoring game under head coach Brianna Spector. F&M started the contest on a 7-2 run and maintained the lead throughout the rest of the game. The Diplomats not only held off the Cyclones for all 40 minutes of play, but the hosts also extended their lead to as much as 14 in the win. Wilburn claimed her 12th-career double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while also recording two assists, two steals and a block in the victory. Last Time vs. Swarthmore
Franklin & Marshall fell to Swarthmore twice last season with its most recent loss coming in February. In the 61-39 loss against the Garnet, F&M fell behind early but battled back in the second quarter - scoring 17 points on 54.6 percent shooting to cut the deficit to nine at halftime. Despite the Diplomats' great second-quarter effort, Swarthmore put up 18 points in the third and 13 points in the fourth to pull away in the contest. Trebelev ended the game with 10 points and four rebounds. Jaclyn Feit '24 tallied eight points and four assists. Neville racked up seven points and seven rebounds in the contest. Last Time vs. Gettysburg
F&M was tripped up by Gettysburg twice last season with its second loss coming in January, 47-33. The Diplomats scored the first four points of the game when the Bullets began a 24-0 run. F&M got back within 10 in the second half, but the deficit was too great to overcome. Feit recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Swarthmore Team Preview
Swarthmore comes into Wednesday's game on a two-game winning streak with victories over Rosemont and Gwynedd Mercy. Alyssa Hayashi is the only member of the Garnet averaging double figures with 11 points per game. Hayashi also leads the team with three rebounds per game and 3.1 steals per contest. In the paint, center Anna Hansson is averaging 8.8 points and a team-high 7.3 rebounds per night.
