Mrs. Kimber Scarlett

Principal

Hello!  I am Kimber Scarlett, and I love being a part of the Scott family.  After graduating from Indiana University in 1992, I started my career with EVSC at Thompkins Middle School.  During my time with our school corporation, I have had the opportunity to work in many schools and in many positions.  Scott School has been my home for over 22 years! All four of my children, Lukas, Savanah, Juleah, and Caden, have attended Scott School.  I have worked at Scott as a district level coach, classroom teacher, and principal. We are fortunate to have a wonderful community and hope all our families take advantage of the opportunities!

Mrs. Jennifer Garland

School Counselor

Hello!  I am Jennifer Garland, and I am excited to be Scott's school counselor.  Believe it or not, I started as a student teacher at Scott back in 1993.  After quite a journey, I am ready to begin my 30th year in education - back where it all began.

I graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a middle school endorsement in English/language arts.  I later received my master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Southern Indiana. I then went on to obtain an administration and supervision license from Indiana State University and a master's in school counseling from Oakland City University.

One of the many reasons I have enjoyed learning and growing within the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation is that I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles.  I have taught several grade levels ranging from 1st grade through 8th grade. I have also been an instructional coach, professional development specialist, school counselor, and principal.  I have loved every minute of my time in these roles and feel fortunate that I have been able to serve students, families, and staff members in a variety of ways.

My husband and I have two daughters.  Victoria is a student at Drury University where she plays softball and studies bio-chemistry.  Alexandra is a student at Purdue University where she is a biology major.

Whenever I have a few moments to myself, I listen to music, read an engaging book, binge watch a new series on Netflix, or snuggle with our sweet cats, Albert, Ella, Ralph, Louie, and Hazel.

I am thrilled to work with the students and families at Scott Elementary School!

Mrs. Rhonda Deskin

Secretary to the Principal

I have been married to my husband, Alan, for 38 years.  My family is growing!  My daughter and son-in-law, Deidre and Evan, have Braylee, age 4, and my daughter and son-in-law, Whitney and Zach, have Hunter, age 9, Remington, age 2, and twins Barrett and Tinleigh, 5 months.  My four granddogs are Teddy, Khloe, Hemi and Coal.  We all enjoy camping, biking, fishing, hunting - just about any outdoor activity.

I began my EVSC career as a teacher assistant.  I held that position for 12 years.  I then worked as the clerical aide for one year at North High School.  From NHS I went to work in the EVSC Administration Office.  I was the secretary to the Supervisor of Foreign Language for 8 years, the secretary to the Director of Career and Tech for 1 year, and the secretary to the Assistant Superintendent for 2 years, the secretary at West Terrace Elementary...before making my way to Scott School.  I am in my seventh year as secretary at Scott School and I look forward to another great year!

Ms. Camryn Cater

Youth First School Social Worker

Hi! My name is Camryn Cater! I am so happy to be the Youth First School Social Worker at Scott Elementary! My job is to work with students individually and in groups on a variety of topics including anger management, social skills, friendship problems, study skills, divorce adjustment, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, coping skills, home life concerns, adjusting to a new school, etc.  I also make classroom presentations, make referrals to outside agencies when needed, and serve as a link between home and school.

While I work here at Scott Elementary, I am actually employed by Youth First.  Youth First is a non-profit organization whose mission is “To strengthen youth and families through evidence-based programs that prevent substance abuse, promote healthy behaviors, and maximize student success.”

As for a little about myself, I was born and raised here in Evansville and graduated from Memorial High School. I received both my bachelors and masters at Western Kentucky University. I am so eager to assist in providing a safe and helpful environment for the children, families, and staff members here at Scott!

Mrs. Kate Cabrillas

GAIN Student Support Specialist

Hello, Tigers! My name is Kate Cabrillas and I am excited to start the year as your GAIN Student Support Specialist at Scott!  This is my second year with EVSC as a GSS and it is my passion to ensure that our students have the opportunity to achieve their maximum potential. I am here to help them learn self-regulation, problem solving and critical thinking skills to use both in and out of the classroom.  I graduated in 2017 with a degree in Special Education from USI and have a history of working with adults and students with special needs and behavioral difficulties.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Gabriel, for ten years and we have two beautiful and spunky daughters, Parker (5) and Charlie (3). I enjoy spending time with my family, reading and the occasional 90's music dance party. I am looking forward to starting the school year as a Scott Elementary Tiger!
