I am so excited to begin my second year at Scott School and my first year on the fifth grade team! I will be teaching math, science, and other STEM lessons to both my homeroom students as well as Ms. Rainey's students.
I received my bachelor's degree from Marshall University in Huntington, WV and my master's and doctorate from the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. I have worked in a variety of teaching positions in elementary and higher education.
I have one daughter, Anna, who will be in fourth grade at Scott in the fall. We have a Golden Retriever named, Skye. In the evenings and weekends, I like to spend time outdoors.
I'm really looking forward to having your child in 5th Grade!
Welcome, fellow Tigers!
I began my teaching career in Fourth grade in St. Petersburg, Florida. Since I have been at Scott, I have taught 6th Grade ELA /Social Studies, and 5th Grade! I am proud to continue to be a Tiger for an 8th year, with a focus on 5th Grade mathematics instruction!
I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and went to the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Major in K-6 Elementary Education and a Minor in Children's Literature and Childhood Studies. After I graduated, I moved to St. Pete, but I found myself calling Evansville my home a year later. My husband, Chris, and I got married in November 2021, and we have two sweet children, a 3 year old, Emerson, and a 16 month old, Declan!
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family as much as I can! I also love attending sporting events and being outdoors.
My goal is that every student walks out of my classroom with a smile on their face because they learned something, and had fun while doing it! I am very excited to continue my journey at Scott this year! Ready, set, let's learn!
Hello! My name is Grace Rainey and I am so excited to be joining the Scott community!! I will be teaching 5th grade English and Social Studies this year. I can’t wait to meet the fellow 5th grade Tigers and to start a wonderful school year!
