Common Questions
What do school counselors do?
To quote a Hatching Results facilitator, "School Counselors help students gain the attitudes, knowledge, and skills they need to improve attendance, behavior, and achievement...Because we want them to graduate college or career ready"

What is a CSCP (comprehensive school counseling program)
CSCP stands for comprehensive school counseling program. In Washington states schools are required to have CSCP by law. This clarifies the role of the school counselor in alignment with current best practices. By using school data counseling programs addresses students’ social/emotional, academic, and career development in alignment with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model.

Is what we talk about confidential/private and judgment free?
Yes!
Whatever you say, need, or give in our counseling center stays here. It's secret, confidential, not shared with others, and judgment free. However there are 4 exceptions.
you tell us that you are hurting yourself
someone is hurting you
you are thinking of hurting someone else
you give us permission to share
Then and only then will that information will be shared with the appropriate parties. Why? well it's for safety (counselors are mandatory reporters by law) and want to make sure all kids are safe at school and in the community. Also in consideration of your permission/consent. Please know we are human too. We've made plenty of our own mistakes. We understand that students and families struggle. Life is hard and Kids are expensive. Our goal is to support families through these challenges; not to share these challenges with others.
Supporting students and families will always be our top priority We will assist you and your student(s) with discretion, empathy, and love.
