To help keep an eye on the behaviour of the children we use the Day Book in Schoolbase for S1-S5 and S7 (S6 is through ManageBac). This allows Class Teachers and the Pastoral Team to monitor students' behaviour - both positive and negative! Items to flag up include:
Dishonesty
Disruptive behaviour
General concern
Late arrival
Missing equipment
Homework not done
Phone use
and positive:
Excellent work
Good work
Kindness
Merit
It is NOT set up to send an automatic email to the parents, so please don't let the references to emails worry you. You can skip the action at the end if it is not relevant.
To add a note via the lesson registration or the pupil finder, click on the 3 dots:
Don't forget to put in the positives too!
After you save you have the options on the left. You can just close it, or you can choose to email staff, the pupil and the Class Teacher or even the parents from here.
Alternatively if you do not wish to do any of this, just click close, and it will just be saved against the pupils record for an overall overview on behaviour.
The notes from the daybook can be found by selecting the child and then clicking on Day Book at the top (so no need to open the child's record).
Class Teachers can use a quick R& S export to see the results every week and may wish to contact the child/parents to discuss before a situation gets out of hand.
Please notify the Deputy Headteacher/Counsellor/Pastoral Team if this a repeated issue and you feel that the situation needs escalation.
Secure notes should ONLY be used to record serious and confidential information on students. Please make sure you include your initials and date when making a note for ease of reference. You need to select who can see the note:
Security level:
no access (only you can see it)
external (don't use)
Standard (Teachers and TAs with access to the pupil finder)
Level 25 - Teachers
Most secure - only the counsellors, SENCOs and SLT can read the notes (eg. a safeguarding issue).
To check the secure notes for your class, select your class in the pupil finder, select Functions and click on secure notes review:
