Pupils with Special Educational Needs are supported in school by teachers and the SEN team. At Europa School UK all teachers teach those children with Special Educational Needs, they are supported by Teaching Assistants and the SENCO, Gill Hudson. Support for pupils with SEN is delivered through adaptive teaching in classrooms and specialised support in the SEN Hub.
Each child on the Special Educational Needs Register is given a Pupil Profile to inform teachers, teaching assistants, parents and pupils of the pupil’s specific strengths, barriers to learning and strategies that support their learning. These are reviewed and shared with parents regularly. Parents can request a meeting with the SENCO by contacting the email address below. The SENCO attends all Parents' Evenings and appointments can be made through the online booking system.
Examination Access Arrangements include extra time and specific adaptations to examination conditions. They are determined by the SENCO and IB Coordinators. Pupils who may need Examination Access Arrangements are identified by teachers and are assessed by the SEN team. This process incorporates all pupils and not just those on the SEN Register. Assessment for Examination Access Arrangements must take place within three years of the final assessment (MYP or DP) and registration with the IBO for these arrangements takes place early in the academic year of assessment (S5 or S7).
