Head Start is a government entity that answers to the Office of Head Start and is under the Health and Human Services division of the United States government. All programs must abide by the HSPPS which are the regulations that the Office of Head Start mandates. This information can be found by clicking here. Click here for more information.
All employees work a 39 hour work week form August to May.
Employees who work in the summer work a 35 hour work week.
Cleveland office staff have the option of one of the following work schedules:
M–Th 8:00AM to 5:00 PM, F 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM – hour lunch daily
M–Th 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, F 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM – hour lunch daily
Head Start Cleveland and Nelson Center staff work 7:45 to 3:45 (AM/PM AISD Classes 7:45-11:15 classes, 12:30–4:00)
Early Head Start Cleveland 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM
Home Educators M–Th 7:30 to 4:00 – thirty minute lunch daily, F 7:30 to 3:30
Head Start is funded for 1341 slots.
Early Head Start is funded for 422 slots.

Head Start Share and Policies
Many forms, documents, policies and procedures are found on a drive on the computer called Head Start Share. It is titled HS (S).
Forms, policies, and procedures are named by the program year. For example, 2022-2023 Forms.
Many content areas and staff members have folders with operating information within the folder.

Cleveland and Nelson sites are required to follow child care licensing minimum standards.
