Family services staff and home educators must complete the
Family Service Credential course.
Head Start Program Performance Standard:
Family services staff qualification requirements. A program must ensure staff who work directly with families on the family partnership process hired after November 7, 2016, have within eighteen months of hire, at a minimum, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
Each new family services staff and home educator is required to complete the Family Service Credential course.
This is a 42 hour course with some portfolio projects embedded.
This is offered in the second semester of the school/program year.
New staff will attend within the first year depending on his/her hire date.
These staff members travel to Amarillo for the coursework, generally at Cleveland Street Center, 1601 S. Cleveland Street, Amarillo, TX 79102.
