Head Start Requires training yearly in many areas in order to keep children safe. Region 16 Head Start/Early Head Start uses an online system for the annual required trainings, as well, as additional training.
Early Head Start
Early Head Start yearly trainings are launched in the EduHero system on July 1st. Staff have about 30 days to complete. Staff will receive an email as reminder.
New staff hired after the initial launch, will also need to complete these trainings. The time frame to complete may be different depending on the staff's position. There are some trainings that must be completed before working in a classroom.
Head Start

Substitutes
Substitutes at Cleveland and Nelson will be required to do EduHero Training. The courses assigned to them are Cleveland or Nelson Instructional Aide courses.
Central Office Staff, Kitchen Staff, Technology Staff, and Custodial Staff
This group of employees also have to complete yearly trainings that are launched in the EduHero system in August when employees return. Staff have about 30 days to complete. Staff will receive an email as reminder.

Additional trainings may appear on your plan based on program needs and initiatives.
If you complete some of these trainings yearly for your district or childcare center, there isn't a need to do them for both. We will need the certificates to give you credit.

First Time Users – Step 1
You will receive an email with the following information:

The Office of Head Start requires that all staff be trained yearly. Here at Region 16 we use a platform called EduHero to send and track these yearly trainings.
You will receive two emails from EduHero shortly after this email (check spam/junk if you do not see them in your inbox).
Please do the following:
*Open BOTH emails from EduHero
*Click the link in EACH email
*Follow the prompts to set up your EduHero account using the email address you received email was sent to.
*Once you have completed the above steps, email me back so that I can add your courses to your account, and send you further instructions
Please have the above done by the end of the day ________________ and email me back and I will load the required courses and send you the final instructions.
First Time Users – Step 2
After emailing the EduHero contact back to inform that your account has been set up, you will receive the following email:

Click the green “Learning” tab
Click the gray “Plans” tab
There you will see your assigned Learning Plan
Click the “Launch” button to the right of the plan
All courses will then be listed
Please start at the top and work your way through all courses listed
These courses are due by ______________________________.
**If you have taken a course at your center that is for Bloodborne Pathogens, Managing Students with Food Allergies, and/or Child Maltreatment Responsibilities recently (last 3 months) please send a copy of those certificates to danee.puga@esc16.net and I will determine if you need to take the EduHero course at this time.

Tips and Reminders
The courses assigned to you are dependent on your position and site location. Please don't assume your list is the same as another person's list.
In order to get credit for all of your courses, utilize your plan.
Don't search for the courses and then complete. If you have difficulty, contact one of the EduHero Administrators.
EduHero Administrators do not have access to change or edit your password.
Should you forget your user name or password, follow the steps on the EduHero log in page.
