Text structure and text features are akin to designing a home. Think of the text structure as the framework for the building. And, just like the features of the home can include many upgrades including an indoor pool, granite countertops, tile or laminate flooring, text features can be varied and enhance the message. When faced with any text, students should learn to recognize its features to allow for deeper understanding and more critical thinking.
