Literacy

We have been working very hard during Literacy time. Every day, we find some time to read for enjoyment and practice our reading skills by reading in groups, with a partner or with the teacher. The past few weeks, we have been doing lots of research about Animals. We have used our findings to create notes in the form of a mind-map. Then, we have used our mind-map to help us write a fact file about an animal of our choice! We worked with our peers to sort the features of fiction and non-fiction texts to help us before we started writing our fact files!

Numeracy and Mathematics

There has been a LOT of learning happening during our Numeracy and Mathematics time. Some children have been learning about 3D shapes and we can now name most 3D shapes! As well as this, some of us have been learning to identify the value of numbers within Th, H, T and U. Finally, some of us have been learning all about symmetry. We have been able to find symmetrical objects around our classroom and have even created our own symmetry challenges for our peers.

We have enjoyed learning some new maths game that support our learning.

Context Learning

As a class, we had a big discussion about the things we would like to learn throughout the year in Primary 3/4. We added to our class 'Wonder Wall' and then decided that we wanted to use these few weeks to learn about all things animals. We have been learning all about the different climate zones that animals live in and now, we can name the climate zones that animals live! As well as this, we have had the opportunity to choose an animal and research it using the Chromebooks, we have found out lots of information! Finally, A very kindly shared a video of her Sea Monkeys with the class and told us some interesting facts about them. Thank you, A!

Health and Wellbeing

During Health and Wellbeing time, we have had a huge focus on our rights. We have explored our rights and discussed how we can make sure these are met throughout our time at school. We created a class charter to ensure that we support ourselves and peers to ensure our rights are met.

Our P.E days have been full of fun, although they make us very tired! We have been focusing on invasion games and have started learning the skills to play Netball. We even watched a few minutes of our National team playing Netball. We were very impressed!

WHAT NEXT?

Next, we are going to begin looking at Letter Writing. We are very excited to extend our learning of Animals to support us when writing these letters. As well as this, we will be covering a variety of contexts in Numeracy and Mathematics, such as time and place value. Additionally, our Health and Wellbeing focus will be on emotions. See you on the next blog post! 😀
