Primary 3/4's Bookmark for the Bookmark Bonanza!

Happy Spring holidays!

We can't believe it is already the Spring Holidays. We have had a great month filled with World Book day activities, a Trip to Amazonia and learning all about Ramadan and Easter. Read below to find out some more!

Literacy

We have turned into witnesses of a crime scene this month! As part of our writing, we have been focusing on writing a range of re-counts. For one of our re-counts we were witnesses of a crime and it was our job to support the police in solving the crime by writing a witness statement of what we saw. Thankfully, we think we helped the police a lot.

Additionally, we have been learning all about imagery and the different techniques a writer might use. First, The Primary 3's started by looking at their senses and identifying ways that the writer had tapped into their senses to help us imagine what was happening. Then, we moved on to look at similes. We really enjoyed this!

Primary 4 pupils have been challenging themselves by applying their learning of similes and metaphors in their writing. We can now confidently identify the difference between a simile and a metaphor and write our own!

Numeracy and Mathematics

You'll see from the pictures that we have been learning lots of different things in Numeracy and Mathematics. Some of us have been focusing on our place value and have learning how to write, order and sequence numbers up to 1000.

In addition to this, some of us have been learning how to tell the time. We found this tricky at first but we have been working so hard and some of us have even made our own clocks to help us!

Finally, a group of us have been learning about the order of operations. We have used the DMAS rule to solve tricky calculations. We have also been learning about perimeter and we used materials to build our own shapes that we could then calculate the perimeter of. Miss M couldn't believe how good we got at it!

Trip to Amazonia

March was a very fun month for Primary 3/4. We were lucky enough to attend our school trip to Amazonia. We enjoyed learning about lots of different animals. Some of us were a little scared when it came to holding/touching the animals but we all did it. We felt very proud of ourselves!

BookTato

Have a look at the fantastic Booktatos some of us created for World Book Day.

Our winner and runner up! Well done H and A.

Health and well-being

During P.E time, we have been working on our target throwing skills. We have explored this skill in a number of different ways, including golf and basketball! We have loved building on this skill.

Additionally, during Health and Well-being time we have been discussing what it looks like to be a good friend. We have had some great discussions around this. We even introduced our own 'Pause' sheets that have helped us when overcoming peer conflict! Ask us about this at home.
