Our challenge for Play Projects was to make a witch's house for the main character in 'Room on the Broom.' We used a variety of construction materials outdoors to create a house for her, then thought about passwords and passcodes to think of creative ideas about what could happen!
We played a coin and notes scavenger hunt outdoors to help develop our skills to recognise money from 1p up to a £20 note.
In the gym hall and MUGA we have been exploring moving our bodies, sharing the space and taking turns with resources. We experimented with moving in different ways using small equipment, then played a team game to try and throw the beanbag into the hoop.
We have been focusing on money this week - recognising, sorting and ordering coins.
We played games in class, used chalk outdoors to create coin number lines and created coin characters using different coins.
After lunch, we have been brushing our teeth. We have been following rules and routines to keep our brushes clean, and learning techniques to correctly brush our teeth.
We are learning about our bodies and our senses. We have been learning about the sense of smell and taste and exploring how they are linked. We watched a video then completed an experiment using crisps to see how our sense of taste changed when we held our nose. It was an interesting and tasty lesson!
We have enjoyed visits from Tracy our cleaner and Mrs Kenneway our head teacher, learning about their jobs and how we can help our school community.
Tracy was so impressed after school at how clean and tidy the toilets were, and Mrs Kenneway was so impressed with our line at playtime that we got a set of wings! Let's keep making good choices for our school community P1!
We have been developing our counting and addition skills. Using cubes, we made towers of cubes to count and add together. This week we have been having a go at recording calculations using the addition and equals signs.
For outdoor learning, we worked with a partner to collect different numbers of materials and organised them with our tens frame egg boxes. We worked with Mrs Wallace to create addition calculations using pine cones and stones with the tens frame mat.
We have been developing our balancing skills. We worked together as a team to create stepping stone using lots of different objects and used our balancing skills to move across them all.
