We were very excited to reach our target of 25 wings and earn our class reward for a party in the gym hall.
Our next chosen reward is to have a 'bring your teddy to school' day.
P1 have really been enjoying writing stories in class, being illustrators and then reading their story to the whole class. It's been lovely hearing so many creative stories!

We've been making stuff in school - making books - Maicie
We have been thoroughly enjoying listening to the Scottish Booktrust stories and participating in lots of book related activities this week.
It was also the week of our Open Afternoon so we had lots of family visitors to help us with our writing task for 'The Eyebrows of Doom.'
We were very excited to visit the local library to collect our Bookbug bags from June the librarian.
We also got the visit our new school library - the Innovation Station! We enjoyed picking a story to read as a class and even got 2 sets of wings for our fantastic respectful walking through the school!
... together!
We have been exploring money and making amounts. Our outdoor learning task was to use chalk to draw the amounts.
We have been measuring length. We used our pencil as a measuring tool to find objects outdoors which were longer than and shorter than a pencil and recorded our findings.
Across the school we have implemented a new writing approach, all focused on a short text. Our first focus text was 'Room on the Broom.'
We start with a 'cold piece' - last week we created a missing witch poster with the opportunity to independently draw information, write words or sentences.
Then we create a class story map for the text.
'The witch had a cat and a very tall hat.'
Next, with the teacher we use the story map to help us write the sentence.
The following week, we innovate the story by changing some details. Sometimes we use a planning page or sound boxes to practise sounding out and writing words.
As a class we decided to change the witch into a monster, and the cat into a dog. We drew a new story map and wrote our new innovated sentence.
Sometimes we have other tasks linked to our story focus. Here we were sequencing the story in the correct order.
Or we may complete a play project - like making a broomstick for the witch.
We also focus on our story for Drawing Club, exploring the characters, setting and new adventure ideas for the plot.
