We are learning to move our bodies and share space through energetic play outdoors. P1.2 enjoyed sharing the nature garden with P1.1 and were very creative with the games and activities they thought of!
We are becoming more responsible by trying to complete our Literacy (red) task and Numeracy (blue) task every day without Mrs Wallace needing to remind us! Here are some photos of P1 working hard this month to complete their learning tasks all by themselves.
Handwriting
Free Writing Friday - have a go writing
Cut and stick - making 'ad' words
Time game on iPads
Adding 3 numbers
Cut and stick - objects that are light and heavy
We have been exploring analogue and digital time for o'clock and half past. Our blue challenge task was to create a numicon analogue clock and make times with the hands using the big stick and the little stick.
Our outdoor learning challenge was to make an analogue clock time using chalk.
P1 have been using their knowledge of sounds to read and also write. We have been exploring different ways to record our experiences and feelings. After our Scottish Show, we drew a picture of the event and wrote a sentence about the experience and how it made us feel. Some of us were excited, and some of us felt nervous!
Some of the pupils really enjoyed discussing their pictures and feelings with their friends, helping them to add more details to their drawings!
We have all been making great progress in our reading skills, and are beginning to independently have a go at completing a written comprehension task based on our homework reading book. We are working on different skills, such as sequencing the story, thinking about the character and speech, using the book to help us.
Keep up the good work, P1!
As part of our Health and Wellbeing learning, we regularly brush our teeth in class. We have been learning about how to brush our teeth well and why we brush our teeth. We are always careful to follow the hygiene rules!
While we brush we watch a toothbrush song or timer, making sure we brush for 2 minutes. Keep brushing at home too Primary 1!
P1 really enjoy developing our teamwork, problem solving and communication skills by building dens. We're always very creative with the materials we use to create the structure, and always persevere when it is challenging. It's always worth it when we get to play together in our dens!
Here are some dens that have been created recently. We also really enjoy taking our own photos of the den using the iPad.
