National Numeracy Day
National Numeracy Day is a day dedicated to everyday maths. It aims to help adults with supporting their children at home, using maths at work and maths and money. This year it is held on the 19th of May. To celebrate this, we have added this page.
Official Website
Information about the day and the activities available can be found on the National Numeracy Day website here.
Useful Links
At Mearns Primary School we aim to help parents support their pupils at home with maths. We do this through parental workshops and directing parents towards resources from our website. These can be found here.
New Links to Resources
Take a look at these Thinglinks produced by Education Scotland for activities and games that can be used around the home to discuss maths with your child.
Improving pupils' attitudes towards maths is also very important and promoting a Growth Mindset is something we work on at Mearns Primary School.
These links to Youcuded (a site dedicated to building positive attitudes towards maths) might be of interest.
School Number Heroes Competition
Pupils will have the opportunity to take part in this competition in the coming weeks. Our Maths Leaders have produced a short video to introduce this and it will be posted in Google Classrooms or used in class.
