School Uniform
All schools in East Renfrewshire are following the Education Departments Dressing for Excellence Policy. In Carlibar we actively promote and encourage the wearing of school uniform. The Carlibar uniform is:
Black school blazer with school badge
Black trousers, skirt or pinafore
Red school sweatshirt/cardigan/jumper
Black school shoes
Red school fleece/rain jacket
White polo shirt
Forms of dress that are unacceptable in school are items that:
Could potentially encourage factions (e.g. football colours).
Very short skirts
Could cause offence (e.g. anti-religious symbolism or political slogans).
Could cause health and safety difficulties such as loose fitting clothing, dangling earrings, and other potentially dangerous jewellery.
Are of flammable materials (e.g. shell suits) that may be a danger in certain classes.
Could cause damage to the flooring (e.g shoes with high heels or footwear that doesn’t provided proper support).
Carry advertising in particular for alcohol or tobacco.
Could be used to inflict damage on other pupils or to be used by others to do so.
Under no circumstances will pupils be deprived of any educational benefit as a result of not wearing uniform. Parents are asked to assist by ensuring that valuable items and unnecessarily expensive items of clothing, jewellery, etc. are not worn to school. Parents should note that the authority does not carry insurance to cover the loss of such items and any claims submitted are online likely to be met if the authority can be shown to have been negligent.
Clothing Grant
Parents of children receiving income support, job seekers allowance, family credit, housing benefit, or council tax rebate, will normally be entitled to monetary grants for footwear and clothing. Approval of any requests for such grants made by parents in different circumstances is at the discretion of the Director of Education.
