In the event that school needs to be closed, the Rhode Island Department of Education has given districts the option of hosting up to 3 Virtual Instructional Days where Teachers and Students can interact virtually to participate in learning experiences while meeting at school is not possible. To support this effort East Providence has created a lesson plan template and some sample lesson plans to help teachers plan for Virtual Instructional Days.
To be in compliance with RIDE's Virtual Instructional Day regulations districts must have a plan to ensure that the rigor of virtual instruction will at least be equivalent to the rigor in the classroom. To meet this requirement East Providence is adopting a lesson plan template to ensure proper lesson progression for students while they are learning asynchronously.
