The Teaching & Learning Department writes curriculum for K-12 math, reading, science, and social studies. The department creates the Year-at-a-Glance (YAG), Week-at-a-Glance (WAG) and a Scope and Sequence for each course. Each course is broken down into units as and the team writes guides for each unit. The unit guides consist of specifics such as objectives, academic vocabulary, and effective instructional strategies to support teachers with their lesson planning. Academic pacing calendars are created for each grade level and content to support campuses in mapping out their academic plans. The curriculum is housed in Schoology group 6JT7-53GV-GJGV6 and is updated each nine weeks.
The Teaching & Learning Department leads the development of the EPISD curriculum by engaging a dedicated teacher cadre each year. We recruit a new cohort annually to write and refine grade-level and content-specific curriculum, ensuring alignment with district goals and standards. Throughout the year, these teachers collaborate closely with our T&L facilitators to create high-quality, effective, and timely instructional resources.
This partnership not only strengthens curriculum design but also incorporates valuable teacher feedback, making the EPISD curriculum responsive to classroom needs. We are proud of this collaborative approach, which empowers educators and enhances instructional excellence across the district.
