NBA THIS WEEK 1/16-1/23
By Anthony Schiller
This week there are a good amount of games to talk about. To start the week off, we began with a game that I think most people would predict the Nets had in the bag . The game was the Nets vs. The Cavaliers and what really happened was a crazy upset. The Score was 114 to 107 with the Cavaliers winning. The Nets were still missing their star player, Kevin Durant. Still, their starters put up 81 points and 26 bench points, which is good but not great, while the Cavaliers had 77 starter points and had their bench ball out and obtain 37 points. Another very good game on the 17th was Bucks @ Hawks. The Hawks were trailing most of the game and then, in the fourth quarter with about three minutes, started to turn it up a little bit. They started to cut down the lead and, with 30 seconds left, they didn't let up, going up 7 and winning the game. The starters for the Bucks had a combined 88 points, with lead scorers being Giannis Antetokounpo scoring 27 points and Khris Middleton balling out and scoring 34 points while the bench had 26 with the lead scoring being Pat Connaughton with 14 points. The Hawks starters had a combined total of 91 thanks to star player Trae Young scoring 30, while also having De’Andre Hunter step up and score 20 really helped the team. The Hawks bench had a total of 30 points with Danilo Gallinari scoring 16 of the 30. On the 20th, the Pacers came to the “Golden State” to play the Warriors. This game was amazing, as the Pacers don't look like a good team on paper but, when you watch them play, they look like a whole different team. This led to the game being very close between the two, which also made it go into overtime. Point Guard Steph Curry put his team on his back, playing for 44 minutes and scoring 39 points. The Golden State Warriors' starters put up a total of 80 points while their bench put up 37. The Pacers were led by Small Forward Chris Duarte, playing for 39 minutes and scoring 27 points. The Pacers' starters had a total of 78 points while their bench had a total of 43. Lead scorer on the bench for the Pacers was Isaiah Jackson with 15 points. The end score after overtime was 121-117 with the Pacers taking the win after a hard fought game.
The exciting games that are coming up this week are Grizzlies @ Bucks at 7 pm on the 19th. This game should be a high scoring game and it should also be pretty close between the two for most of the game. Another good game coming up is Bulls @ Bucks at 7 pm on the 21st. This game should also be very close and it should have a lot of action within the game.
