Adrian Peterson and Jackie Robinson were both talented athletes. They both won many awards and achieved greatness in their sports. Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in Major League baseball, changing professional sports in America. Adrian showed us that despite the life we are born into we can achieve our dreams if we work hard. Adrian Peterson was a professional football player who overcame many challenges in his personal life. While playing professional football he was voted Pro Bowl MVP in 2008. He was also the Offensive Player Rookie of the Year in 2007. He made it to the Pro Bowl 7 times in his career.
Both men played different sports and broke records. Jackie Robinson held many records during his first year in the majors. In Promises to Keep, by Sharon Robinson, on page 43 we read, "By the end of Dad's (Jackie Robinson's) first official year in the majors, his record spoke for itself. My father led the league in stolen bases, and in sacrifice bunts, and was second in runs scored. He played 151 of 154 games that first season, all at first bases, and brought a new aggressive style to the game. This explains that Jackie was a very skilled baseball player. Both Adrian and Jackie won many awards, including Rookie of the Year. Adrian Peterson won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2007. According to the State Muse website, "Adrian played 14 games and scored 13 touchdowns which lead him to win Rookie of the Year." This tells us that Adrian was a skilled football player. Jackie Robinson also won Rookie of the Year. In Promises to Keep, by Sharon Robinson, on page 43 we read, "The Sporting News and the Baseball Writers' Association named Dad (Jackie Robison) Outstanding Rookie of the Year. He was the first winner of the award." This explains, that even early in his career his skills on the baseball field were noticed.

On April 15 1947 Jackie stepped onto Ebbets field for his first game with the Brooklyn Dodgers; breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball. This explains Jackie played baseball. On the other hand, Adrian showed his skills on the football field. Jackie and Adrian had different support systems throughout their careers. Jackie Robinson became successful because of the support of his wife, Rachel Robinson. In Promises to Keep on page 39, it says, "We worked hard to keep our fighting spirits alines and alert. We laughed and cried together." This explains how Rachel supported Jackie. According to the Bleacher Report, "Adrian said his Jesus faith got me (him) to this point." This tells us that Adrian used his faith in Jesus to support him on his path to the NFL.
Adrian Peterson and Jackie Robinson overcame challenges to change America. Jackie broke the color barrier despite the hate that he received. Adrianbecame a successful football even though he was born into poverty and had a father that served 10 years in prison. Both men teach us that we have the power to define our future. It doesn't matter our race, gender, age, or the life we were born into. If we set our minds to achieve our goals our dreams can and will come true.
