I. Let's analyze the reaction above, the one that happens in bombs and nuclear reactors, to talk about complete atomic symbols.

Nuclear Chemistry Standards    

1.     Students will write reactions involving alpha decay (emission), beta decay (emission), positron emission, neutron emission.

3.     Students will write balanced nuclear fission reactions given reactants and products.

4.     Students will identify key components of nuclear bombs and nuclear reactors (fission) given a diagram.

6.     Students will identify and discuss dangers inherent with nuclear fission reactors.

7.     Students will discuss the biological effects of radiation.

Homework: Write the complete atomic symbol for elements 1-30, skipping two lines in between. Identify the # of protons, neutrons, and electrons.
