I. Imagine this - If the people making decisions in Flint, MI had paid more attention in their high school chemistry class, perhaps the entire crisis could have been avoided.
II. Let's play some ion memory.
III. Lab activity - Elements, Isotopes, Ions.
A. First, read the introductory information and answer the pre-lab questions.
B. Second, move from lab station to lab station to identify each "element, isotope, ion."
IV. We will begin our study of Flint, MI, and how ions played a huge part in the water crisis, by doing a 'jigsaw' of three articles. In a jigsaw you read and become an expert on one article, and then share the information with people who read other articles. In that way you put puzzle pieces together, becoming an expert on three articles while only reading one.
