Welcome to a new school year at Elgin Elementary! We are so happy you are here.
Thank you for your flexibility and patience throughout the first three weeks of remote instruction. We couldn't do this without you!
Attendance is based on academic interactions or academic completion of assignments. Teachers are scheduled to check for this completion during their Individual Student Support time in the Parent Schedule. Any students who have not completed an interaction or an assignment by this time will be contacted daily. Students must have completed one or both of these prior to 4 pm. Special circumstances are dealt with on a case-by-case basis by administration.
Just a reminder that in-person learners will still be participating in learning via their devices and pre-recorded videos and assignments. If your child is attending in-person, they must bring their charged device (iPad or Chromebook), charger, headphones, and school supplies in their backpacks each day. A water bottle (full of water) is also recommended. Please arrive to school no later than 7:30 am, when instruction begins. Doors will open at 7 am. Your child must arrive at school wearing a mask, and they will be provided with additional masks when they get here. Dismissal begins at 3 pm. If you are picking your child up from school, you must stay in the car. You may not walk up to the school to get your child. Additionally, please have the Car Rider sign on your dashboard so we can clearly see who you are picking up without rolling your window down. We appreciate your help with keeping all of our Wildcats safe!
If you have chosen Remote Learning, your child will not be allowed on the bus or in the school. For safety purposes, all students need to participate in the learning that was indicated on the commitment form. If you would like to change your child's learning option beginning October 19th, please email sarah.farias@elginisd.net requesting to do so by October 2nd.
Contact us with any questions or concerns. You may reach us via email, phone (512-281-3457), or on Reach the E. We are here to help!
Just as we do during in-person learning, we have staff members that come into classrooms for additional student support and services. This includes our Gifted and Talented Program, our Dyslexia program, Speech services, and Special Education services. This staff will be supporting students in various grade levels throughout the day. We understand that the provided schedule is very structured, but if your child is asked to attend a meeting with an EES Staff Member, they should attend it first, prior to completing previously scheduled work. We are just starting our beginning of year screeners, and will need to meet with individual students for both Math and Reading screeners. Please note that the purpose of these screeners is to get an accurate representation of what your child is truly capable of. In order to help them continue to grow and learn, it is important that they complete these screeners independently. Please do not assist them with anything other than logging on. Additionally, please be on time to the screener, as we are testing many students throughout the day.
Office Hours and Live Tutorials are by invitation only. Please let your child's teacher know if you'd like to meet.
