Moving forward, we will be sending out parent newsletters once a month. That way, we can ensure new information with each publication.
School begins at 7:30. When students are late to school, they miss part of breakfast, some grade levels miss Specials, and they have to catch up with any work or information they were not able to do when school started. It is so important that they are here on time!
If your child arrives after 7:30, you will need to park in visitor parking and get out of your car to sign them into school. Please do not leave your car running in the fire lane, as we need to keep that area clear in case of an emergency.
Weekly letters will be sent in the mail to parents/guardians who have children with excessive absences. State Law requires that students attend school for at least 90% of the time, equating to a maximum of 18 absences. When repeated efforts are made to improve student attendance, and it continues to occur, we will file truancy charges. Attendance is a factor that we consider when discussing retention, as well.
Remote Learners must participate in at least one academic interaction before 3 pm each day, or they will be marked absent. If you have any technological difficulties that prevent your child from completing work or participating in meetings/groups, please notify your child's teacher so they can mark his/her attendance accordingly.
If your child goes from in person to remote learning due to an illness or other related event, they are expected to participate remotely while they are not participating in in person learning.
Beginning next week, automated phone calls will occur every day by 1 pm, and will notify only the families with students who have not completed an academic interaction for the day.
If you'd like more information regarding attendance, or to discuss your specific situation, contact megan.wehrle@elginisd.net.
Students who have perfect attendance for the month of April will be entered into a drawing for a Walmart gift card!
Although Governer Abbott has rescinded the state-wide mask mandate, the Texas Education Agency has determined that it will remain effect in schools.
All Elgin ISD campuses and departments require that masks be worn by adults. While our campus is closed to visitors, there are times when you may find yourself in our building. It may be to drop off a tardy child or bring a change of clothes or pick up your child when they become ill. Whatever the reason, if you are on school grounds and must get out of your car, a mask is required. Our scholars are doing a wonderful job following this expectation and we need your support and participation to help keep our school open.
