What is Earth Care about?

Several years ago, Steve Fellers, EHS science teacher, was in charge of Earth Care Club, and they were in charge of recycling, landscaping and sharing the vision of proper earth care. Our goal and vision for the organization is to expand the basis of basic care and develop the club to produce their own foods, manage products for fundraisers, collect natural resources and use them to the best of the students' abilities. The hope with earth care would be to continue the recycle program at EHS but also allow the students to learn skills in being able to utilize the resources they may have to produce a better equality of life for themselves and those around them. I have been talking with several of the teachers at EHS who are envisioning the development of a greenhouse to have on campus. Earth care would be able to share the space with the biology, FACS and special education math courses to ensure that not only one group is using the area, but that we are tying these skills back into our curriculum at EHS. We have amazing resources in El Dorado such as the compost site, water treatment plant, recycling center and the nursery to help the students gain more knowledge and understanding on producing less waste and developing a stronger knowledge of how to make an impact on bettering their environment.

Earth Care Club is now pairing with K.A.Y, World Cultures Club and more from the high school as well as the middle school to get a start up this year on our very own Greenhouse; this Greenhouse will be a short term experience until we can grow into a real building with foundation.

We are happy to announce that a few key members will be meeting to discuss future fundraisers as well as a set in stone plan for the future of El Dorado High School.
