Observations
What are Classroom Observations?
Classroom observations are an act of watching a teacher teach in a classroom or other learning environment i.e. observing the teaching when it is happening.
They are integral to education systems and the educator/teacher profession. It is a proven way to improve teaching practice and provides insights for all key stakeholders:
Educators
School Leaders
Area Leads/Other Teams
Types of Classroom Observations

Ekya Danielson : 60 minutes
How are classroom observation recorded?
Classroom Observations are recorded in the Schoolmint Grow Platform.
At Ekya, we use the Ekya Danielson Framework, that is based on the Danielson Framework or Framework for Teaching by Charlotte Danielson.
Ekya Danielson Framework
Ekya Danielson or ED has 3 categories that has been mapped to 6 torches:
Section A- Planning & Preparation (Curriculum, Assessment)
Section B- Classroom Practice (Instruction, Culture, Environment)
Section C- Professional Practice (Professional Practice)
What to do once you are observed?
Post observation, your observer will share feedback.
These are the steps you should follow post an ED:
Read the score (if ED) for each domain
Read the evidence i.e. notes of the observer
Look at the action step
Focus on the action step for upcoming lessons
It is important to remember that observations are not a judgement of the teacher but a way to improve teaching to provide students with a better learning experience.
