The Music Transcription Capability Assessment evaluates your ability to accurately verify song lyrics, timestamps, and transcription quality.
Successfully completing this assessment may unlock access to music transcription workflows on Effect Alpha. High-performing results may also unlock the Music Transcription Validator capability, which provides access to advanced validation tasks.
This test evaluates your ability to:
Identify accurate song lyrics
Verify transcription correctness
Evaluate timestamps and alignment
Apply validation rules consistently
The goal is to ensure contributors can maintain high-quality data for music transcription datasets.
The assessment consists of 25 total questions:
10 Lyric Accuracy questions (Multiple Choice)
10 Validation Scenario questions (Multiple Choice)
5 Fill-in-the-Blank transcription questions
Each section evaluates different aspects of transcription and validation skills.
Please review carefully before starting.
Each question includes a countdown timer.
If time runs out, your current answer is automatically submitted.
The test then advances to the next question.
Once a question is submitted, you cannot return to it.
Previous answers cannot be edited.
For fill-in-the-blank transcription questions:
Copying, pasting, or cutting text is disabled.
You may:
Replay audio clips multiple times.
Adjust playback speed as needed.
Use these tools to listen carefully and verify details.
To pass the assessment:
You must score at least 72% (18 out of 25 correct answers).
If you achieve an exceptionally high score:
You gain the Music Transcription Validator capability in addition to the standard transcription capability!
Validator capability provides access to advanced workflows where you:
Evaluate the correctness of completed transcription tasks.
Review full-song submissions instead of short audio snippets. (More EFFECT!)
Help maintain dataset quality through structured verification.
Validator roles involve additional responsibility and require strong accuracy. Validators are the last line of quality defense before the data goes into the public domain.
