Robot Research Project Alternate Assignment
Part 1 - Engineering Design Process
This is an alternate assignment for the Robot Research Project. It is designed for students on one of the FTC teams or students who want to try to get onto one of those teams. It is much more in-depth and difficult than the original Assignment.
Watch the video by Team and then put together a slide in your ePortfolio that explains the Engineering Design Process according to the video.
Part 2 - Game Research
For part 2 you will be researching an FTC game. Feel free to research one of Rover Ruckus (2019) or this years game Centerstage.
Rover Ruckus
For the second part of this project you are to read the Rover Ruckus Game Manual Part 2 - Section 1.5 as well as Appendix B,C,D, and E.
Remember that a robot may only be 18"x18"x18" at the start of a match.
Your task is to sketch a simple mechanism for moving the Gold and Silver into the Lander OR a robot Latching mechanism.
Place that sketch or prototype (you can do this by hand, with a drawing program, or with CAD software).
Centerstage
Or for the second part of this project you are to read the Center Stage Game Manual Part 2 - Section 1.5 as well as Appendix B,C,D, and E.
Remember that a robot may only be 18"x18"x18" at the start of a match.
Your task is to sketch a simple mechanism for moving the Pixels on to the back drop OR a lift to lift the robot OR a Drone Latching mechanism.
Place that sketch or prototype (you can do this by hand, with a drawing program, or with CAD software).
Part 3 - Robot Research
For the last part, you will need to research one of the teams that participated in the competition and answer the following questions:
What type of drivetrain did they use?
What sort of submechanisms made that robot successful?
Did the team make anything exceptional happen? (Odometry, vision detection, custom fabricated parts).
