High Frequency Words.
One of the best ways to do develop early reading success in children is to help them learn to read high-frequency words. These words are the ones your child will see in nearly every book they read.
Because they are so common, high-frequency words provide the building blocks for children’s reading success. Learning to recognise these words quickly and automatically is an important step to becoming a fluent reader.
There are many ways you can help your child master these words. But first, you have to know what they are and be able to read these. Watch the following videos in the order set below to help with the recognition of these important words and develop automatic recall of these. Each video contains a group of High Frequency Words, which are sounded out to help with reading them.
A chart to the right shows the first 100 High Frequency Words.

Watch each video below to practise segmenting and blending some of these words.
Use the chart to select 10 words to practise reading daily. Move to another group of 10 once reading automaticity and fluency is achieved.
