Keysborough Secondary College reports student progress to parents in line with the Department’s Reporting Student Achievement and Progress Foundation to 10 policy. In addition, we ensure that there is continuous sharing of assessment information formally and informally with parents/guardians throughout the term and semester.

VCE, VCE-VM, VPC and VET scored program teachers are required to score and report on all outcomes. Teachers must assess all students' level of achievement for SAC, SAT and ALT tasks. Teachers must keep accurate records of the outcome scores as completed; these will be reported to VASS for calculation of a student’s study score. The VASS reporting timeline is set by VCAA and implemented by the Senior school team. Teachers are required to submit their results to the Senior school front of house for data entry.

Advice for all VCE, VCE-VM, VPC and VET teachers on the reporting requirements for lodging VASS results. NOTE: Dates for result submission will be communicated each year via the Senior School Front of House, Senior School Assistant Principal and VCE / VCE-VM leaders.
Continuous reporting
Throughout the semester teachers are required to complete continuous reporting. Providing timely and targeted feedback to students and parents regarding a students learning progress and areas for improvement. This will be in the form of a Learning tasks made visible to parents and students via Compass. It is an expectation that feedback is provided in a timely manner following the completion of each assessment task (within 2 weeks after the submission of the task).
Continuous reporting encompasses a variety of different learning tasks including:
Common Assessment Task (CAT) - Years 7-10
3-5 summative high stakes assessment tasks per subject.
School Assessed Coursework (SAC) - VCE
A summative high stakes assessment, completed by students undertaking VCE subjects.
School Assessed Task (SAT) - VCE
A summative high stakes assessment, completed by students over a period of time (eg. Technology and Art)
Assessed Learning Task (ALT) - VCE-VM & VPC
A competency based assessment task, completed by students over a period of time to demonstrate understanding of key skills and knowledge
Learning Tasks - Years 7-12
Learning tasks are formative tasks completed throughout the unit. Allowing the teacher and student to monitor learning progress (eg. pretest, snap shot of learning at a point during a unit)
External Assessments
Are set and marked by external assessment authorities eg. VCAA Unit 3/4 exams; ACARA - NAPLAN assessments
VCE, VCE-VM & VPC Outcomes
Each outcome covers the essential skills and knowledge required for a student to demonstrate the required proficiency for the unit. Feedback provided to students will include:
Individual feedback against the marking criteria
Overall level of achievement
Satisfactory or Not Satisfactory proficiency of the outcome

A summative high stakes assessment, completed by students at the end of the Semester or year
Parent-Teacher interviews are a valuable platform for fostering open communication between school and home, allowing teachers and parents to collaboratively enhance a students' learning and social development. These formal sessions offer a chance for educators and caregivers to discuss student achievements, learning behaviors, and share progress, as well as set goals for future academic success. Moreover, they provide teachers with insights into the individual needs and characteristics of the students in their classrooms, facilitating a collective effort in nurturing a students' overall wellbeing and learning.
