This week we will be starting our swimming program!
This week in Reading, we will continue to focus on the comprehension strategy of finding the main idea and summarising.
Students will continue to build their reading fluency by reading and talking about a range of different texts. They are working towards becoming confident readers and reflective thinkers who can express their ideas clearly and convincingly.
This week students will continue to explore persuasive writing. Students will focus on the structure of a persuasive text by stating their opinion, articulating three reasons to support their opinion, and use connectives to organise their reasons.
Students will also have an opportunity for free choice writing.
In Maths this week, students will continue to use multiplication and division strategies. They will explore multiplication using arrays, record the multiplication number sentence as rows x columns and solve them using times tables or partitioning. Students will also explore quotition division situations that may involve remainders by skip-counting
We will also continue their lessons on location, by learning to move around a grid using directional instructions.
In Spelling this week, we will focus on:
reading and spelling nouns that end with the suffix 'es'
We will be focusing on the tricky words: (favourite, should, shouldn't)
At home, you can support your child by doing the following activities:
Child writes the word, saying each sound as he/she writes.
Draw child’s attention to the target phonic pattern.
Help child choose the correct spelling pattern if there are options.

Child writes the word several times, saying each letter name as he/she writes.
Child writes a sentence using the target word.

This week we will be continuing our Respectful Relationship lessons!

• practise ways to say what the problem is when they are seeking help.
