National Geographic began as a magazine recording the beautiful, surprising and bizarre found in nature and societies around the world. More recently, there are articles about the harm being done to the planet and some of this information is online.

The education site is a great source of student friendly information, but it has an american focus and does not have a wide coverage of topics.
This is the the 'education' section of National Geographic (.org), which is quite different to other National Geographic.com sites (ie: Kids, Family). The National Geographic Magazine online requires subscription to access.
