In Term 4, students further explored coding by creating stories using the ScratchJr app on the iPads. It uses a programming language that is accessible to young children. If you would like to learn more about ScratchJr, check out the following video about the application.
Students learnt about the different ScratchJr programming blocks needed to make characters move, jump, dance, sing, and more. They focussed on how to add and delete characters (sprites), transition to new pages, change backgrounds, make characters move and talk and also use the message blocks to make the characters take turns when talking or completing actions.
Once students felt comfortable with the blocks, they created simple stories that had an orientation, a complication and a resolution.
