Term 1 Week 4
Tuesday 14 February 2023
From the Principal
Welcome to a new school year at Railway Town!
We are excited to start the year and look forward to the many events and activities that are planned for our students and families. Our classes are settling in well and have enjoyed meeting new teachers and making new friends.
A big welcome to several new families who have joined us this year, as well as our new Kindergarten students. Our Kinders have had a great 2 days with Miss Niass and Ms Gorton.
We have started the year with 7 classes and you are welcome to come in and say hi to your child’s 2023 teacher. We will be announcing an ‘Open School’ event in the coming weeks. We are also encouraging families to sign up to Class Dojo as a way of contacting teachers and seeing the great things happening in our classes.
We are fortunate to have a new staff member, Mrs Wetherall, join us this year, and a big welcome back to Miss Hodges. Mrs Wetherall and Miss Hodges will be class sharing 3/4HW and are excited to meet and get to know our families and students over the term.
Tomorrow will be our first major event of the year with the 3-6 students (and some 8 yr olds in Year 2) attending our school Swimming Carnival at the pool. A reminder that permission notes with swimming ability indicated need to be returned. There is no cost for students to attend this event. This year we will be sharing our swimming carnival with Broken Hill Public School.
The P&C will also be holding their first meeting of the year tomorrow night (Wednesday 15th). The meeting starts at 7pm in the staffroom and family members are invited to attend.
We look forward to seeing you over the coming weeks.

Other Notices
Mrs Maree Clavel
Hello Railway Town families. I am very pleased to be working at Railway Town Public again this year and will be here Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. I will have the opportunity to work with all classes as the year progresses, and this suits me well, as I like getting to know all our students. My three boys are all in high school now, but are former students of Railway Town. I have a keen interest in sport but also love reading, travelling, and learning about other cultures and languages.
Miss Ella Hodges
Hello to all the Railway Town families. This year I will be the classroom teacher in 3/4HW from Monday-Wednesday. It is so lovely to be back at the school after spending some time at home with my two boys, Andrew (4 years old) and Nicholas (1.5 years old). Some of my favourite foods are pasta, fruit, olives, hot chips with gravy and I always enjoy a sweet treat with a cup of tea. If I have to answer the favourite colour question I always answer with purple, but I like many colours for different reasons. I enjoy playing card games, taking my boys for bike rides and escaping to the river. My favourite time of day is when I get into my pyjamas… bring on pyjama day!!!
Mrs Jordan Wetherall
Hello Railway Town families. My family and I moved to Broken Hill from Tweed Heads late last year and are thoroughly enjoying getting to know the town. This year I will be the classroom teacher of 3/4HW on Thursdays and Fridays. I'll be spending the other days with my almost one year old daughter, Rylan, and my dog, Wesley. I like board games, sunflowers, sunsets, camping, coffee, spearfishing, reading, listening to music and playing sport. Although, I'd better scrub up on my AFL knowledge as I grew up watching NRL. I look forward to the year ahead; it's going to be a great one!
New Bubblers
We are excited to announce that over the Christmas break we purchased and installed two new drinking stations.
Not only do they look fantastic they will provide our students with cold filtered water, ideal for drink bottle refills!
The water stations are each located in the infants and primary areas
Welcome Kindergarten students
