Term 2 Week 2
Tuesday 3 May 2022
From the Principal
What a great start to the term! The students were excited to tell us about their holidays and have settled back to school routines easily. I am very happy with our student attendance so far, with most classes having the majority of students coming each day!
We are also reminding families to keep your children home if they are unwell. This will stop the spread of any germs!
A huge thank you to the P and C for running our Mother’s Day Stall today. The students enjoyed shopping for a special person in their life and I am sure there will be a lot of smiles on Sunday.
Tomorrow (Wednesday 4th May) Railway Town will be non-operational as all of the teaching staff will be participating in Industrial Action. This means there will be NO teachers onsite tomorrow. I acknowledge that this situation will cause interruption, however, we appreciate your support. I welcome any questions from you so I can fully address concerns you may have.
We hope you enjoy our new look newsletter! We are asking for any feedback from our community. It will be completely digital which will mean you can read it anytime and from anywhere.
I am excited to welcome all of our families, parents and carers back into the school as we ease out of COVID-19 restrictions. We are starting with assemblies! Assemblies will now be 9am each Friday and we hope to see you there! Student awards will also be communicated to you from class teachers
Enjoy the rest of week 2!

COVID-smart settings in Term 2
As the new term gets underway, we’d like to advise parents and carers about our COVID-smart settings in Term 2. These have been developed in consultation with NSW Health and are aligned to the NSW Government’s general community settings.
Many of our existing COVID-smart measures continue into Term 2, including:
rapid antigen testing for symptomatic students and staff
vaccinations – including booster shots (from 3 months after your child’s primary COVID-19 dose) are encouraged for all eligible students and their families.
ventilation
good hygiene practices
enhanced cleaning.
What's new in Term 2:
Change to close contact isolation requirements - The NSW Premier has announced changes to requirements for close contacts which means that from Week 1 of Term 2, students and staff who are identified as close contacts will be able to attend school with certain risk mitigations in place.
Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) – which the department will continue to supply to students and staff in Term 2 to support symptomatic testing and testing of close contacts returning to school.
Masks – particularly a new recommendation from NSW Health for people who have recently recovered from COVID-19 to wear a mask for an additional 3 days following their 7-day isolation period (from days 8 to 10). [DELETE AS REQUIRED: Staff in SSPs and support classes are also required to wear masks to provide additional protection for our students].
Responding to local COVID-19 conditions – outlining the temporary reintroduction of some additional COVID-smart settings if local conditions require it
Ventilation – how we’re maximising natural ventilation in classrooms and learning spaces while balancing thermal comfort during the cooler months.
Reducing the risk of illness this winter – general advice from NSW Health to protect our school community as we head into winter.
Thank you again for your ongoing support.
