Legal Studies develops students' knowledge and understanding about the nature and social functions of law and law making, the development of Australian and international legal systems, the specific nature of the Australian constitution and the role of the individual. Against this background, the HSC course delves into key areas of law and contemporary issues for the justice system in Australia and international examples. Students develop skills in investigating, analysing, synthesising legal information and investigating legal issues from a variety of perspectives.

Prerequisites
Must have successfully completed Year 11 Legal Studies
Coursework
Complete all set tasks including note making, completing set reading, participation in group work and analysis of law cases. Organise and complete notes and revision summaries, use evidence and complete research tasks. Use and complete practise past papers, structured answers and essays.
Suitable Candidates
Students who are interested in developing their critical thinking skills. This course particularly focuses on current legal issues in the media. Through the use of a range contemporary examples, students investigate a variety of different sources of law, their processes and institutions and the tensions between community interests and individual rights and freedoms.
