C3 – demonstration of technical skills
Superior technical skills are demonstrated, although there is some lack of tonal clarity, and articulation is not always clear due to the ensemble balance. Intonation is mostly secure, and the tone is well projected. Expressive performing techniques on the saxophone are fully explored.
C4 – stylistic interpretation of the chosen repertoire
This is an energetic performance with strong stylistic understanding. Jazz nuance is applied with musical effect.
C5 – sense of personal expression and personal interpretation of the chosen repertoire
Contrasts are explored, however, they are not fully realised. There is a strong sense of personal expression and performance flair.
