Artist Statement

As an artist, my artwork ‘Everyone has pain‘, portrays digitally enhanced photographs of a variety of people in my life. Each image has been rendered digitally to create a pop art cartoon style. From a frame perspective, this artwork is highly postmodern as it explores the notion of pain and how people experience it due to different reasons including race, gender, self-perception, bullying ect. The colours chosen are the same as the original self-portraits but they have been highly enhanced to make them more vibrant. Every image has had a crying eye filter added that look like paint pouring out but this is the symbol that every image shares and this is the ‘Pain’. The programs Adobe Draw and Photo Prints was used to create the works.

My main influence in my artmaking practice has been well known artist, Andy Warhol. Andy Warhol strongly explored the use of vibrant colours with strong black outlines and used mathematical composition in his arrangement of images.
