The MyStrengths program improves the wellbeing of Year 10 students by helping them identify and build on their individual character strengths. The program:
Boosts self-awareness and self-confidence
Encourages a positive self-identity
Promotes resilience by showing students how to apply their strengths in challenges
Fosters healthy relationships and empathy through peer interaction
Supports mental health by reducing negative self-talk and increasing optimism
By helping students recognise and intentionally apply their strengths in everyday situations, the MyStrengths program fosters a sense of purpose, builds resilience, and supports the development of a confident, values-driven mindset.
This mental health incursion, delivered by Headspace, equips students with practical strategies to support their emotional wellbeing and builds awareness of the professional support networks available to them. It aims to:
Gain a better understanding of mental health and early warning signs
Learn practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and pressure
Are encouraged to seek help early and reduce the stigma around mental health
Become aware of support services and pathways both inside and outside of school
Feel more confident discussing emotional challenges with trusted adults or peers
By normalising conversations about mental health, Headspace helps students build resilience, self-awareness, and healthy coping strategies that support long-term wellbeing.
The Wellbeing Day in Term 4 promotes student wellbeing by providing a structured, supportive space for students to engage with real-life issues that affect their health, safety, and decision-making. With the guidance of expert external presenters, students receive accurate, age-appropriate information on critical topics such as risk-taking behaviour, consent, drugs and alcohol, and respectful relationships. These sessions help students:
Develop self-awareness and critical thinking around personal choices
Understand the consequences of risky behaviours and how to make informed, safe decisions
Gain a clear understanding of consent and respectful communication
Build empathy, confidence, and strategies for navigating social and peer pressures
Access relevant support networks and services
By addressing these important issues proactively, the day empowers students with the knowledge and tools to support both their mental and physical wellbeing, while also strengthening a culture of respect and responsibility across the school community.
Mock Interviews in Term 4, facilitated by Mr Gosby with community professionals, support student wellbeing by helping students build confidence and practical communication skills in a safe, realistic setting. This experience:
Enhances students’ self-presentation and interpersonal skills
Provides valuable feedback and insight from professionals
Reduces anxiety about future job or study interviews
Strengthens students’ readiness for life beyond school, boosting motivation and self-belief
By preparing students for real-world challenges, mock interviews empower them to approach their futures with greater assurance and resilience.
Participating in work experience promotes student wellbeing by helping young people develop a sense of purpose, confidence, and future direction. It allows students to:
Explore potential career paths in a real-world setting
Build practical skills and a sense of achievement
Strengthen their independence, responsibility, and self-esteem
Connect learning to life beyond school, reducing anxiety about the future
By gaining meaningful experience and clearer goals, students feel more empowered and motivated, supporting both their emotional wellbeing and engagement with school.
The optional Snow Trip in Term 3 promotes student wellbeing by encouraging physical activity, social connection, and outdoor adventure. It helps students:
Build confidence through new experiences and challenges
Develop teamwork and friendships in a supportive environment
Enjoy the mental health benefits of being active in nature
By combining fun, fitness, and social bonding, the Snow Trip enhances students’ overall wellbeing and sense of belonging.
The Recognition Evening is a special school event that celebrates students’ achievements and milestones in a supportive, celebratory setting. It:
