At CHS, we are committed to ensuring every student attends regularly and reaches their full potential. In line with the NSW Department of Education's Attendance Matters campaign and School Attendance Policy, we remind families that attending school every day is vital for student learning, wellbeing, and future success.
Parents and carers are required to notify the school within 7 days of any absence, providing a reasonable explanation. Supplying a medical certificate helps justify absences due to illness. Please plan family holidays during scheduled school breaks and follow school processes for Extended Leave Applications.
The Department expects students to maintain at least 90% attendance. Falling below this benchmark places students at increased risk of poorer academic outcomes and reduced wellbeing. As part of our attendance monitoring processes, you may receive letters or phone calls throughout the year to raise concerns and offer support. We encourage parents and carers to work with us in partnership to develop positive attendance habits and ensure every child has the best opportunity to thrive.
Whether it’s academically, emotionally or socially, your child benefits from being present at Cronulla High School.
Please visit our Parents/Carers tab for information and strategies on School Refusal if you require more support on getting your child to school everyday.
