Yandelora School

Yandelora School is located in Narellan in Greater Western Sydney on traditional Dharawal land.

The Son of Apple

At Yandelora School, students researched a collection of surrealist artists and decided that the dream-like artworks of Rene Magritte were their favourite.

The students created their artworks, The Son of Apple, by painting a blue background, followed by a sponge loaded with white paint for a cloud-like effect.  A famous Magritte silhouette was the next layer, followed by a carefully crafted apple.

A collage of fifteen artworks each with a black background and a torso silhouette of a person in a bowler hat. The silhouette is blue with sponged white cloud-like effect and a green apple cutout with a black stem in front of the face area. Each is different but the effect of so many similar images is striking.
